Easy on the surface… but quite a challenge when you try to fit years of wine knowledge into just three hours!
That’s exactly why I love teaching this class. The best part is always the questions: thoughtful, curious, and coming from people who are genuinely thirsty for wine knowledge
Wines we explored together:
1️⃣ Waimea Sauvignon Blanc – Fresh, vibrant, and herbal, from one of the pioneering wineries of Nelson
2️⃣ Wirra Wirra “12th Man” Chardonnay – A cool-climate beauty with pure citrus, apple, and pear notes, finishing with an elegant flinty “struck match” character
3️⃣ Karl May Pinot Noir – Earthy and savoury, with cranberry and violet notes that evoke memories of red Burgundy
4️⃣ Barón de Ley Rioja Gran Reserva – Classic old-school Rioja: savoury, dried red fruits with spicy and earthy complexity
